Club Bylaws Revisions Ratified
The revised bylaws of the Mill Creek Rifle Club were ratified by vote of the members present at the June regular membership meeting, June 6, 2023.
The ratified changes, first reviewed and approved by a majority vote of the full Board of Directors in February 2023 and then presented for ratification by a majority vote of members present at the annual member meeting in March, includes the following changes:
- The position of Technology Director is formally included in the list of club officers and directors. The director's responsibilities were also outlined to include oversight of the Club's information technologies (IT) including the Club's computers, networks, internet access, wireless fidelity, and security systems. The technology director will advise the board regarding all IT issues and work directly with outside IT providers and other technology vendors on Club IT and security matters.
- A new mission statement for the club was added. The mission statement addresses the larger purpose of the club and is meant to help guide policy actions in the future.
- Officer and director terms of office were extended. Officers (president, vice president, and treasurer) now will serve 2-year terms. Directors will serve 3-year terms.
- A provision to review the bylaws and recommend amendments at least once every three years was added.
- The deadline for any Club member wishing to run for any of the Board positions up for election to contact the nominating committee members and announce their candidacy was moved one month earlier than previously, to the date of the January Board meeting prior to the annual meeting.
- Availability of meeting records was clarified. Any member in good standing may request review of previous member or board meeting minutes at any regularly scheduled member or board meeting.
The revisions to the bylaws were ratified by at least two-thirds of the members present at the June 6 meeting. All members were notified of the meeting to consider the revisions at least 10 days prior to the meeting, as required by the bylaws.
